SCHOLARSHIPS

Scholarships for Excellence. These have been awarded since 2002 to students joining the college.  There have now been 420 Scholarships awarded. 

Unlike other Scholarship schemes funding for the scheme comes from charitable donations and not from the College. In these challenging times we do not believe that colleges should fund these schemes, especially if used just to aid recruitment.

Scholarships for Excellence are awarded by the Foundation each year following an application and selection process. The Scholarships cover a wide range of subjects chosen each year by the Foundation and the Sponsors (see the List of Scholars below for examples of award subjects).

The Scholars are free to use the awards as they wish, but most use it to purchase equipment and books, or to pay for additional studies or field trips.  The Scholars report regularly on their progress and meet Sponsors throughout their time at the College. 

About the Scheme

The Scholarship scheme aims to raise the already high standards at the HSDC Alton Campus by encouraging excellence.  It is open to first year students with the minimum requirement being that you must be in at least your first term at the college before being considered. However we encourage applications for Scholarships being made prior to joining the college.

We also offer, in partnership with The Arts Society Alton, a special Art Scholarship for all Art Foundation students.  

The closing date each year is 15th November. We then shortlist with the aim of interviewing and selecting Scholars in December and January.  If you apply and do not receive an acknowledgement please contact our office.
